As both a coder and an author, I can safely say the stuff I am inclined to give away for free is less. The flow of give and take has become too unbalanced and most folks are eager to gain their 15 minutes of fame for whatever it is they are doing. If code comes from a kind of charity, sooner or later you gotta ante up to keep the charity rolling.
