Putting aside the discussion if using this amount of water is warranted from an ideological perspective, i would like to focus the discussion on what exactly it means to use "3 liter of water". Unlike with electricity, using water for cooling does not really mean the water got consumed. At worst, it needs to cool down again before it can be used again for the same purpose. But it's not wasted. Water molecules don't break down during this process.
Or am i missing something?
It kinda reminds me when media reports that organizing a certain sports event cost 1 million dollar in police supervision. Those police officers need to be paid anyhow, regardless if they are at this particular sports event or not. It's a meaningless number.
