Even if you believe these CPI numbers are accurate, these are scary argentina-like numbers... (stole this from twitter)
June 2021: +5.4% July: +5.3% August: +5.3% September: +5.4% October: +6.2% November: +6.8% December: +7% January 2022: +7.5% February: +7.9% March: +8.5% April: +8.3% May: +8.6% June: +9.1% July: +8.5% August: +8.3%
Burning through oil reserves. Now add "inflation reduction act" and student loan forgiveness to the mix...

The news articles I find say inflation "rose 0.1%" possibly to make it sound flatter. I guess inflation was 8.2% last month and 8.3% this month, I'm surprised they didn't say "inflation was basically flat this month, about the same as last month" in order to make it sound like prices barely rose.
Perhaps it's also worth pointing out that when the rate of growth slows (which it didn't, it grew this month), that doesn't mean prices fell, it means they still rose.

They expected 7.9-8.1 This is ridiculous.
