They are amazing. The mom protects us out here in the desert. The young girl is a silly good ball with endless love it give.

What kind of animals do you get out there? Snakes, scorpions, lizards, bobcats?

All those things. Mostly cows since we are in ranch property. Also toads, lizards, tons of insects, javelina, coyotes. it's pretty wild. The dogs help us hold ground. The wild animals stay away mostly.

I am not a fan of snakes. Not sure I would be cut out for desert living.

It's not for everyone. All my old friends think I am nuts. I have made peace with the creatures out here. I used to be afraid of rattlesnakes. But I have sat with them and now I understand them. They have no desire to hurt me, nor do I want to hurt them. We are allies now.

Are you concerned the snakes might bite your dogs?

No. I don't worry because fear draws in the very thing we fear. My dogs know to stay away. They are very intuitive.
