I'll have to look into it again, but here's my understanding:
The Oshi app used to be amazing. I used it to find local merchants accepting Bitcoin or for buying gift cards to local merchants with Bitcoin.
But the development team is small, and there wasn't a sustainable business model. So, they downsized. They stopped supporting the app, and they launched a new website. Instead of focusing on local communities, the website is broad with about a dozen merchants accepting Bitcoin for product and who ship their product to you. No more gift cards or anything. As part of the website, Oshi created a loyalty program, where you get a percentage of Sats back on your purchases.
When did you download the app? I suspect you downloaded it a while ago before they stopped supporting it, and now you have a buggy version that has all kinds of broken elements in the backend, sense it's probably no longer even there.
They really need to find a way to let people know about these changes, because people are probly still trying to buy gift cards and such through the app, and having it break.
Hold to redeem was also not working for me about a year ago and I reached out to the devs. They were able to send me the gift card numbers via DM on Twitter. But that was a year ago..... they may not be able to help at all anymore.
I tried logging out and deleting the app then redownloading it and now it seems I can’t log back in. The email code isn’t sending it seems
