It feels like most of the league is 1-2 after three weeks. How are folks feeling about their 1-2 squads?
The Raiders laid a predictable egg to the worst team in the league and Andy Dalton remains undefeated against us. For the second year in a row, the Raiders eliminated me from the survivor pool. At least I made up for it with my bet on the Panthers + the over.
Their main problems are the worst running game I've ever seen and Maxx Crosby having a high-ankle sprain. I thought we had a good defense, but maybe it's just a bunch of guys + a generationally awesome defensive player.
Ugh. Something is wrong with the 49ers. Beyond the injuries. Beyond the rust from the guys that held out. Beyond getting out coached two weeks in a row. 49ers culture has changed. Physicality, playing 60 minutes, finishing plays. Not seeing it. Man, I saw Jake Brendel get pancaked by the Rams DLineman and then just lay on the ground and wait for the play to end while Purdy ran for his life. On the Rams last drive I saw 20M a year Javon Hargrave completely give up on a Williams run. 30M man Aiyuk looks like trash, can't get separation so with the game on the line Purdy is throwing the ball to the 5th string WR Ronnie Bell and of course he drops a perfect pass that would have set them up for a game winning FG. Trent Williams has had to come out of all 3 games with cramps or to get an IV because he held out and isn't in shape. Looks like a bunch of prima donna's who are content with going to 4 out of the last 5 NFC Championships with no rings to show for it and act like they are a dynasty.
49ers have had bad stretches before. They lost 3 in a row last year before rattling off 7 in a row. The year before they lost two of the first four before turning it on. The year before that they were 3-4 to start the season before winning 10 in a row. I know they can rebound but what pisses me off is this doesn't look like a team that is pissed they lost in OT of the super bowl and desperate to get back.

It’s interesting, because they still superficially look like the 49ers.
It definitely sucks when your team is giving poor effort. If they don’t care, why should we?
Nevertheless, I expect another 12 win season from the niners.
reply
Tough schedule. I thought they needed 4-1 in first 5 to get to 12-5.
They are going to have to win a lot of games against tough teams.
reply
Maybe tougher than expected, since they already lost to the Rams and the other two division rivals might be good.

Might have to take my criticism of Hargrave back. He tore his tricep, likely on that play. Out for the season. The hits just keep coming. So far this season is reminding me an awful lot of the 2020 season where they were coming off the Super Bowl loss and half the team got hurt and they went 6-10. I don't think they will be that bad but division is definitely in play with Seahawks 3-0 and the 49ers reeling and decimated with injuries.

It's reasonable that a team would struggle when the best Tackle, RB, and TE in the league are all on the bench. At least you still have the best LB in the league on the field.
reply
Yeah but the Rams were missing even more guys than the 49ers. If they lost to a full strength Rams team it would be understandable.
reply
Sure, but they only might have been missing the best WR in the league (I'm not sure whether that's Puka or Kupp, though).
Aside: My dad was joking that teams should just give their starters the week off when they play the Raiders, since we're so reliably terrible against backups. The Rams, especially w/ Jimmy G, would have eaten us alive.
