Last Saturday @grayruby posted a poll about increasing number of matches at NFL . One of the points discussed in the comments was the amount of injuries that the players would suffer with an increasing number of matches. It seems that these days more players are getting injured than in the past. Same view can be applied to this side of the pond, when we talk about football.
The following day, Rodri (Man City's midfielder ) and Ter Stegen ( Barça's goalkeeper) both suffered knee injuries. The latter, will be out of competition for at least 8 months after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon.
Rodri had his ACL teared and is expected to be out for 6-7 months. Just a week ago, he was complaining about the busy schedule and mentioned that some players were considering going on a strike due to this.
Obviously, clubs and organizers such as UEFA and FIFA will keep pushing to increase the amount of matches, which means increasing income. Not sure if it is going to be the best way forward for the show.
