What I find hard to parse out in these graphs is whether its internet technology or the money printer creating the gap, because they both coincide with the wealth gap increasing.

You could maybe make an argument money printing created both the wealth gap and internet technology taking off I guess. Sometimes I view the internet as a "frontier" with endless abundance that people retreat to because they have trouble meeting their needs in meatspace. Viewed that way, a wealth gap would exacerbate development of reality alternatives.
