The "unreported factors" of deliberate practice are summarized in the conclusion as an "inner-expert" as most of his elite performers lacked an external expert helping them practice. I'd be curious of the age that the performers lacking an external expert achieved elite status relative to the ones with an external expert. I'm unfamiliar with the research, but common wisdom is that external experts accelerate development not that development requires an external expert.
