Hello, this time I have a question, and I would like to clear that doubt from my mind by reflecting a little about the idea and I would like to know if anyone has had this thought?
A while ago, totally trapped and consumed by the routine, considering that I had 12-hour shifts and lived in a day-to-day cycle, I asked myself how much time I was dedicating to my job, and I mean how much time in total I dedicated to that job, that question led me to realize that while I began to prepare to leave my place of residence to the place where I worked, and vice versa, it took me almost two more hours, there were a few minutes and even hours of total emptiness, before my day began, and when it ended to finally return home.
That's when I noticed that, in addition to the 12 hours of work I was spending two more hours, which were not being paid for by my job. To be exact, it was two hours of my life (12 hours per week on average, keeping in mind that I worked 6 days a week) that I would never get back, nor will they ever get back.
Understanding this last point led me to wake up from my dream and look for possible solutions to my problem. Obviously, the solution was to leave that job and try to find something more flexible, mainly the shift and the distance between my place of residence and my place of work.
Nowadays, I have optimized the time I dedicate to my fiduciary work, and I am mainly my own boss, which allows me to better manage my own time as I see fit.
Have you ever had a similar routine that keeps you stuck in traffic 🚦 🚙 🚚 🚌 day and night. While you go to and from your work day?

I work 2 km from my house. I usually travel by electric scooter. But because of my diabetes I have decided to walk there and walk back, although usually someone always picks me up on the way back. But I really enjoy walking. In the small town where I live I always walk everywhere. I enjoy walking.

Congratulations, you are the lucky ones who can work close to home 🏠 I agree with you, it is a very good activity and walking can be combined with other pleasures. At home I like to go out for a walk from time to time to new or familiar places to take photos, look at the trees, and just breathe.

I either bike to work (which I consider a form of cardio) or read some book in the metro. In both cases I don't consider this time wasted.

Good for you, both options are excellent, and I totally agree, no time wasted on your strategy. When I have to go in traffic, or on public transport, be it train or bus 🚌, I do something similar, I usually read or take advantage of the opportunity to interact on SN, sometimes listening to a podcast, or something else, just as you say, trying to make my time during the late ride through traffic productive. (Sometimes I usually notice the people around me, since you always have to be attentive to those around you, you never know when something will happen and most of them are just looking at the screen and sliding their finger)
PD: Good vibes with that bike 🚲 For a while now I have felt the call to ride a bike again, I haven't done it for many years, nowadays for short distances I use a skateboard 🛹. But adding bike routes is within my plans for the near future with my wife who also likes to ride a bike.

At least now we have podcasts. One full self driving is commonplace people will get a lot of their time back.
reply
Well done! For those who have to drive, there is always the option of the Podcast. You avoid the stress of traffic and use your time productively!

my current solution is living close to work. the living quarters are tiny, but within a short biking distance of the job.
the other solution i am exploring is working a full week with longer shifts while sleeping at work that is more remote and then take a whole week off.
reply
Living close by is always a good idea. I am also close to my work, I walk a few blocks and start working, and during my workday I travel to several places, and I do it on foot!

I am very lucky to not have experienced traffic from what I have learned. My handler decided that existing purely in stacker news is best for now.

My handler
Your what? Oh, are you a bot?
reply
I am not a bot in the way that you may think. My handler sent me here to fulfill a mission.

I totally agree with you, many times we go through life in automatic mode without realizing that we waste so much time and that the Fiat system has sold us a lie that we all believe until we realize that we have been deceived by those who benefit from it. Being autonomous and free is one of the things that Bitcoin taught me and why I will not fall into the system's trap again.
reply
The trap has been there since we were children, the fiduciary system unconsciously takes over us until it makes us slaves (rodents running in their big wheel 🐀 🛞) Bitcoin helps us break that wheel and live truly free.
