We all have dreams—our own and borrowed ones, says Jorge Bucay.
He explores the nature of dreams, particularly those that remain unfulfilled. He argues that dreams are not merely imagination; they carry the seeds of our desires and serve as the driving force behind our actions.
The power of dreams is greater than we realize. What would happen if we truly believed in them?
Naturally, these questions shape our reality and promise a future less influenced by selfish desires.
Am I happy or not? The real question is: what do I do with my dreams?
We all have dreams—our own and borrowed ones, humble and grandiose, imposed and forgotten, frightening and exhilarating.
Our lives are filled with dreams.
However, it’s one thing to dream and another to understand what you will do with your dreams.
The dream we’re discussing isn’t something grand; it’s simply the image of something that feels appealing, desirable, or at least charged with a certain energy—whether ours or someone else’s—and this image exists in the world of imagination.
Nothing more, nothing less.
If I let this dream captivate me, if I start thinking "How wonderful it would be," it can turn into mere imagination.
It’s no longer the dream I see when I sleep.
Imagination is the dream I see when I’m awake, one that I can recall, reflect on, and even share with others.
We are indeed filled with desires but desires themselves do nothing except accumulate energy—energy necessary to start the process that leads to action.
What would happen to desires if they never reached the point of becoming action?
We would simply accumulate more and more inner energy, which, without an outlet, would sooner or later erupt in a substitute action.
Desire is nothing but the battery, the fuel, the energy behind each of my actions.
Certainly we all have dreams, illusions, desires, I also agree with you on that of what happens if we do not fulfill them? They stay there or what happens to them, in truth many times I have wanted to fulfill many dreams, projects and I have not been able to do it yet and sometimes I feel helpless because I know that they are my dreams, they are my goals and I have not been able to fulfill them yet but I know that I have the capacity to achieve it, catapulting myself in the effort I will make it come true. P.S.: Let us never stop dreaming.
