Interesting video here. A Braiins mini miner would cost you about $5 to $7 a month in power to operate while your fridge would be about $10 to $11 bucks.
$5 to secure the network seems more than worth it!
What if I sold you a fridge and didn't mention that it's mining Bitcoin.
I'd sell it to you under the cost of its production.
Id build the fridge to mine me bitcoin for 10 years, probably makes more sense than data centers. If the fridge breaks I'll send someone to fix it for cheap 🫡
But it seems obvious. And the incentive flip is wild.
They'd want to ship you the most efficient battle hardened system possible, as to make a nice return. Each system they sell provides a small stream of income for the foreseeable future.
I had 2 asic space heaters, was thinking I'd just give one to my neighbor for free while not mentioning anything about bitcoin.
I'd use his energy to mine for me and I wouldn't have to worry about the heat. If I was more entrepreneurial on that front, I'd buy a bunch of space heaters and give them away for free which means I'd have 0 electricity cost with heat being a positive externality, while decentralizing my "mining farm".
I'd go door to door at apartment complexes that are notorious for broken heat systems and offer free heaters. Could even charge them so that I'd seem less altruistic or suspicious.
I'd offer to do maintenance on them every once in a while, could even charge them a buck for it , and help them upgrade their "heating" setup every once in a while.
