Politics over Prizes is no secret here!!

Raju, who had been told he was selected to receive the VY-SSB award, thinks it is no mystery why he was removed from the prize list. “If you look through some of the articles I have written or collective statements from the scientific community that I helped coordinate, it is clear that I am critical of several policies of the government of India,” he says. “That the government has not been happy with all this is not a secret.”
The politics in prizes is no big deal here. After all, the prizes are recommended by public representatives.
Just curious to know whether you have unbiased and transparent Prize System or its the same as India??
In my opinion the government shouldn't organise prizes for they are always politically biased.

Science is always suborned by politics! The dirty politicians have the money after all, and the scientists want the money. The conclusions drawn by the scientists also reflect the source of the money in positive ways.
As they await an answer, some researchers are giving the government the benefit of the doubt, saying a number of factors might have prompted the ministry to scale back the list of awardees. But, “The government now needs to reassure the scientific community that the awards will be given for scientific achievements and no other considerations are important,” Trivedi says. “And this has to be substantiated by giving clarity on what is the role that the different committees and people involved are going to play.”
Why would anybody give any government the benefit of the doubt? They are all crooked anyway? Can you tell me of one government that only does the job the government is supposed to do?

Do they have a job?
The work is done by employees which they are not. They enjoy like the royals in anarchy used to do.

They have one job: to protect the people’s freedom (notice I did not say liberty). Every thing else is not their job but the people’s job or jobs. Disemploying every government leach would be a very good start.

One thing is guaranteed amongst politicians in all countries - they often will get bribed at a certain price. Whether it is a public bribe or a private bribe, sometimes these could be wrapped as prizes or gifts. In the end, the only way to stop corruption is to enforce it heavily. There is a dilemma here, because these are the people in power...

Indian science is just like science everywhere else, or should I say, ScienceTM?
