It’s my bedtime but I’m feeling exhilarated.
My adrenaline rush began in the middle of the chaotic night. Amidst getting two kids ready for sleep, I received a notification that SN would go non-custodial on 5 Nov.
Technically, I still have two weeks to manoeuvre. For better or for worse, my amygdala kicked into overdrive. Fight or flight response activated. Of course, I wanted to settle this before tomorrow! Who knows if I have the bandwidth to tackle this challenge in the next few days?
Attaching an external receiving wallet was easy. I recalled that Zebedee was viable as a Lightning address. So that’s what I did: input my Zebedee address.
Ya, it worked. How did I know this? Because I activated the auto withdrawal feature, so ~9k worth of sats were instantly transferred to my Zebedee address the minute I pasted it as my external Lightning address.
I then asked if an external sending wallet was necessary if I wished to zap fellow Stackers real sats. The answer was in the affirmative. Okay, so I still needed to resolve 50% of the issue.
Thus, I immediately downloaded the Blink app and registered with it with my mobile number. Woah, it has Learn and Earn lessons. Let me get the low-lying fruit first.
With 5 sats in my digital pocket, I then set about pasting my Blink address. It turned out that I had to source for some API key thingy. Initially , I thought I just had to paste my Blink Lightning address, but I was wrong.
Instead, I had to head over to Dashboard to generate an API key.
To do so, I had to supply an email address. Subsequently, I had to key in a code that was sent to my email and create an API key.
I did the needful and then pasted the API key as my external Lightning sending wallet.
It worked! I just need to fund my Blink so that I can participate in this dynamic sending and receiving of sats!
Slightly past my bedtime. Good night, world.

I felt the same urgency this morning. I already had auto withdraw in place, but then it took me a little bit to process what it meant to connect a send only wallet. What does "receive" in its context mean, what does "send" in its context mean? I had to speak this out loud before I understood it.
I then asked if an external sending wallet was necessary if I wished to zap fellow Stackers real sats. The answer was in the affirmative.
Here you put this very simply. Nice!
I would only admit this on your post. Everywhere else the discussion is dense, and I sense disdain for any slowness to understand. Thank you for your simple guide, it is helpful!

All’s well that ends well, huh?
Glad to be able to support your art moving forward!

Btw, it probably makes more sense to use Blink for send+recv. If I understood correctly, you are paying from Blink and receiving into ZBD. Why not use your Blink lightning address to also receive into Blink?
Else your balance on Blink will only shrink while the balance on ZBD only increases.

That was the option I used. I send to Blink's Lightning address and receive in SN via Blink with the API KEY. I assume this is for when I'm going to use SATs on the platform.

Yes it makes more sense n I have since made the change!
I didn’t know that I could use the Blink address as my external Lightning receiving address because send only was indicated underneath it. I now see that this send is a call to action to generate an API key and not a rejection of Blink as a receiving address.

Oh, I see how that can be confusing

Thanks for your simple guide. It helped me a lot to make my Attach wallet. Now I understand well why I need to make the WA to send because as soon as I put an amount in auto withdrawal, what exceeded that amount I received in my Lightning address. The question is, because I use Blink and I made the API key configuration, in this case it is so that every time I go to publish, comment or zap, the necessary SATs are used from that external wallet?

That’s my understanding as well!

Thank you very much @criptosensei, your guide was very valuable and helped me understand a little better, although I have a question about which non-custodial wallets would be useful for this.

Same here, but I couldn't earn sats, it told me my phone carrier wasn't supported. And Blink wasn't available in Play Store for me, so I installed an APK.

Tbh I don’t think there are a lot of sats dished out anyway. It’s more profitable to be active here

Thank you for your post. Having said that...
I wish this hadn't changed. It was easier before IMO when all I had to do was scan a QR code, generate the invoice, and send and receive to SN. This requires a lightning address, which is giving me the 'cannot find a route to the node' error (although I could always find a route before) and a whole other app...
I understand it's because of US regulations, however it's really silly for zaps back and forth.

Ya this change is painful

This post is very timely as we are going on the crossroads of uncertainty. I am opting to stay as is to prove that nothing really changes. Cowboy credits are good for SN and stackers alike but your initiatives are better for newcomers. Let us face the changes head on.
