Reports of the damage reaching 9 figures is wild. For the Rays I think this will speed up their new stadium that’s supposed to be ready in 2028 but it looks likely they will have to play home games at some AAA stadium.
This would give MLB the chance to test out the markets that have pushed for a team like Nashville or as the article mentions Raleigh, N.C. It would give the league an idea of what kind of draw they could expect esp. since the Rays are a solid team just a year removed from playing for the AL East Division title.
