you could simply reply with e5, c5, e6, c6, OR g6, for example. You don't need to type a number in front after the game start. you could just type e5

I flip it because that's the perspective of the player whose turn it is.
I used to make these board updates manually and it was confusing for black to play upside down.

It's kind of a neat feature but also slightly confusing because most chess games you play online have a static board.
