From what I remember, he didnt want to pay rent on his brick and mortar building because he thought rent was too high.

I think they eventually came to an agreement.
It must be nice to be so rich that you have tons of bargaining power.

That makes sense. Land lords were pretty desperate to retain tenants, so I'm not surprised Elon took advantage of that to get his rent reduced.

Maybe not in CA, but definitely it would be harder to do in TX.
