Through all of my years constantly looking into new tech that can drive freedom, fun and intelligent discussions SN is probably the greatest ever!
So that is where I start off. I've seen a lot of adoption cycles, even back to DTP and new printing methods in the late eighties via digital photography to of course everything online since the mid nineties.
Bitcoin, Nostr and SN are unique!
Everything that is driving real freedom, sane tech development and any hope for a future worth living these days is connected with, or derives from Bitcoin.
I do not think even the idea of creating a protocol like Nostr would have developed before it was too late if it was not for Bitcoin.
SN is then built on Bitcoin, and because of the incentive structure in real sats it has attracted a lot of really smart people, who think for themselves and are not self censoring themselves as everyone else does.
We could definitely call ourselves a vanguard of freedom, heck even sanity itself is on the line!
Transitioning past the 5th of November
If you haven't already I'd encourage you to think through a bit how it might be to build and lead a cutting edge tool for freedom and open discussion in the current environment.
Would you not want to parse out as much as possible of the actual money flow to the users? Would there not be things you might worry about that you can't even mention?
With risk comes opportunity, and SN is a great example of that. Still the risk has to be managed!
Just think about it, no need to comment this part, maybe not doing so is the best...
Supporting the team building SN
If SN was a corporate part of the Digital Gulag I would have been acting very differently. I've had a principle for years now to simply walk away whenever there is any friction or KYC.
For anything Bitcoin, Nostr, SN and Lightning this has to be radically different. Which is why I'll work relentlessly on getting up to scratch on things like Phoenix server, Lightning in general, and all sorts of logins and other tech that is building our only possible online future in freedom.
Hell, for the first time in ages I'm seeing the transition on the 5th as a messy, great opportunity to learn, get very interesting data on adoption, and as it seems today even as the final push to go 100% in on Lightning tech as a career from now on!
In other words I'm all in on helping SN through this phase, and I have full confidence that the team is the best possible to have an even better SN on the other side.
So please, put a lot of energy and time into this if you can, and certainly a guru level amount of patience!
We're building this together, and regardless of disagreements on maybe most things I still think almost everyone in here is in it for freedom in all its variants :-)
I'll spend today and perhaps the next few days pondering if I should use this opportunity to come out all guns blasting the following weeks, from trolling Linkedin and pestering all old contacts that will listen about Lightning, and maybe even Nostr!
Should I choose to do so it will be video and voice, nyms and real ID, meetups and a relocation, maybe even company formation, and without SN I think the decision would be different. I simply would not have this very important focal point for my processes :-)
