I couldn't find articles written in English from reliable sources. Most were the typical over-hyped and badly sourced crypto websites. I wonder if anyone has on-the-ground information? Do they, in Rolante Brazil, use actual Bitcoin or is it crypto affinity-style adoption using altcoin tokens? Has @JoeNakamoto already been there in one of his videos?

The information is true. Merchants in the city of 21,000 inhabitants decided to use cryptocurrency to promote tourism. Around 200 establishments (40% of local businesses) accept virtual currency as a form of payment. Even the healthcare and service sectors operate with Bitcoin.
