The LEGO Universe

LEGO is a privately held company owned by Kirkbi A/S (75%) and the LEGO Foundation (25%). Kirkbi A/S is the holding and investment company of the Kristiansen family (LEGO was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932).
Bestselling products include LEGO City, which offers child-friendly sets for building train stations and helicopters, as well as popular themes like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and LEGO Technic.
In addition to its famous brick toys, the company also distributes video games and online games. LEGO co-owns a chain of 10 LEGO-themed parks worldwide in partnership with Merlin Entertainments.
In 2021, the Danish company saw a surge in sales as families turned to its plastic bricks for entertainment during pandemic lockdowns.
Sounds like Lego should start stacking sats not just bricks.

🤠 I agree! With so many profits in fiat money and high inflation, those profits are being lost. Stacking sats would be a good strategy for them.

hahah, i have to.. Toys are not meant to be in a box.. Also, we have to balance the force :)

The force is with you! I just hope you don't outplay your son. Ahahaha!
Yes, toys aren't meant to be in the box, I know someone whose father wouldn't let them play when other children came to his house, so as not to ruin the toys. Insane!

Well, in my case, we instruct our oldest not to play with Lego when there are small kids visiting. Mostly because we dont want friends to choke with small pieces. Also, some big sets like Asoka Starship are "reserved"... Other than that is all good. My smallest have only 2 years old but he is fully Lego trained because of my oldest.. People freak out a bit when they see a 2 year old not putting the small heads in his mouth :) The small one favorite activity is changing heads and bodies.. Drives me crazy :)

Impossible.. He wants to play EVERYDAY and i cant keep up
reply
In some cases it makes sense not to play. The case I mentioned was insane because they were normal toys, like car tracks.

Oh, i had one close friend that had that same situation.. Always found it wicked. He had "few" toys. But once i was at his home, and he showed me a old freezer FULL with brand new toys.. That shit was packed to the top with unoppened toys he couldnt play with. To this day i remember the strange feeling of shock i got when i saw that.

the most sustainable and profit-focused businesses tend to be private, in my anecdotal opinion. less incentives to be sucked into the pump n dump cycle.

What's amazing about Lego is that the copies can't compare. You'd think its just a piece of plastic, but they way it clicks together... There's no second best

It's crazy how much they can charge for those little bricks. When I was a kid, this was my favorite thing to play with for sure. It's a great way for kids to have fun and be creative.

Yup, I used to love playing with Legos too. Last year I had a little tantrum with my niece over Legos! 😂

I had no idea that there are 10 theme parks?!? I thought there was only one or two!

IMO they are at an inflection point. I think they’re pumping out too much product too quickly, at too high price levels, and they’re doing too many crossovers with too many IPs. I think quality is suffering and there might be a consumer backlash at some point

Have you seen how expensive some of their sets are? Holy smokes batman!
