Last I remember you can prune the blockchain down to 550 mb, but you still have to store the utxo set which is maybe 10 to 15 GB. Looking at your other comment a 256 GB ssd would be plenty.
Oh wow. that isn't big at all. Good to know. If I have issues with my pi, I might try that out.

You could also store the blockchain data on an external ssd.

Great post by the way. I hope more people learn running a bitcoin node is not difficult and you don't need to be technical to do it. And relying on a third party to get your block chain information is less than ideal for lots of reasons.

It seems really important. I am excited to get up and running. It's funny. I have been mining regularly for a few years now. Even though, I am quite uneducated on Bitcoin in general.
