Welcome to the 41st edition of The Daily Zap — A Daily Newspaper (Kind of 🙏). Here, you'll get links to all of the latest news and updates mostly from the last 24 hours, divided in Sections (much similar to pages on a newspaper).
Let's unfold!

~Bitcoin News of the Day

  • The donation was made to Shin Fujiyama, a well-known philanthropist and founder of Students Helping Honduras, an organization focused on addressing poverty through education. President Bukele has been known for his proactive steps towards greater adoption of cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin to revive the economy of the Central American nation.

Global Trade & ~Econ

  • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a stark warning regarding the possible economic fallout of a global trade war. According to IMF Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath, the world economy could contract by up to 7%, an economic loss equivalent to the combined economies of France and Germany, if major economies engage in broad-based tariff escalations.

~Politics_and_Law

  • A divided U.S. appeals court on Wednesday said the federal government's former practice of turning away migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border once a daily cap on asylum applications was met violated federal immigration law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2-1 decision, opens new tab said federal law requires border agents to inspect all asylum seekers who "arrive" at designated border crossings, even if they have not yet crossed into the United States, and the so-called "metering" policy violated that obligation..

  • Tickets for the 2023 Series, in which the Texas Rangers clinched their first championship, cost about $776 on average across five games, TickPick said. The previous most expensive World Series was in 2016 between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland, when the average ticket cost $1,691.

  • By pivoting to smaller reactors, companies and policy makers aim to propel the proliferation of nuclear power, which is touted as a source of reliable energy free from greenhouse gas emissions. Plus, since smaller reactors produce less power, less residual heat needs to be removed to safely shut down the reactor in the event of an accident, simplifying safety systems.

~History with Mystery

  • When globetrotter and travel writer Eliza Ruhamah Scidmore returned home to Washington, D.C., from a trip to Japan in 1885, she was smitten. Everything about the mysterious land in the Far East had enchanted the young woman, but the country’s flowering cherry trees had cast a particular spell on her.

~Entertainment World

  • On Monday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart took on Donald Trump‘s trending moments from the campaign trail in recent days: the former president’s staged shift at a McDonald’s and his lewd comments about former pro golfer Arnold Palmer, both in Pennsylvania. However, Stewart didn’t have the same reaction to these incidents that a number of news outlets did.

I also meant to weigh in on the small nuclear reactors. Those will be real game changers.
We could invert the whole power grid concept, with most energy being generated locally and the grid being for emergencies.
reply
Can you imagine a day when small reactors are being us d like LPG cylinders being used as fuel for stove?
I'm seeing this innovation as a step towards reactors replacing grid for households energy needs.
reply
I don't know if we'll ever have reactors small enough for specific appliances, but household reactors sound like what they're developing.
reply
Yes, If these small reactors do well for tech companies, I think within a few years we'll start seeing small reactors for households as well, albeit someone doesn't create a propoganda around the safety of humanity.

It's astonishing how clueless partisans are: both sides clearly believe there is an "enemy within". Just examine your own rhetoric about "the other side", partisans, and you'll see it's the same as theirs is about you.
reply
However that's kinda political news but I gave it a place inside entertainment for it's clearly entertaining nothing else. It's like a gang with ar movie where both gangs have an 'enemy within' and both believe that their loss is almost certain if they don't find the traitor but both are clueless.
reply
There's a reason stories like that resonate, I suppose.

Good morning!! I never miss this post 😊.. today I'm going to stick with the information from El Salvador.. the way its president encourages the continuous and conscious use of Bitcoin in his country is brilliant and if we think about it, adapting and eliminating the Fiat thought is something that won't be easy.. but it starts like this with the seed.. the people who are helped through Bitcoin will know and understand that what they received was a donation with a real value and that above all it doesn't devalue!! and that thought will also be shared with others and they will want to join the burrow🙃
