My guess is that he's being pressured. Not sure why this would be happening now if it were all just him. Who knows though maybe it is just him.
Ok, lots of Russian trolls out and about.
It's entirely clear why the change was done, it's not getting reverted, and using multiple random anonymous accounts to try to "grass root" it by Russian troll factories isn't going to change anything.
And FYI for the actual innocent bystanders who aren't troll farm accounts - the "various compliance requirements" are not just a US thing.
If you haven't heard of Russian sanctions yet, you should try to read the news some day. And by "news", I don't mean Russian state-sponsored spam.
As to sending me a revert patch - please use whatever mush you call brains. I'm Finnish. Did you think I'd be supporting Russian aggression? Apparently it's not just lack of real news, it's lack of history knowledge too.
He mentions sanctions but then also makes it sound like its the right thing to do. I'm not sure what the purpose of this move is other than virtue signaling. Are these maintainers working for the Russian government? Is there concern about malicious intent? Are they advocating for war? Are they openly supporting the current regime? Many of these types of moves seem to me to be virtue signaling on the one hand but also fear of legal action from the US government.
I get it. There is probably a lot of pressure to do this type of thing. Its just a sad state the world is in. I wish I believed the powers that be were interested in resolution and peace. I do not. They seem to want conflict for the sake of profit.
