Anonymous eSIMs were the missing piece for a digital life with dignity.
Without Bitcoin, we wouldn't have hope.
Products like:
The esim concept hasn't been adopted in India till now.

Here are some others I had bookmarked previously in addition to OPs. Haven’t used any of the below yet, but wanted to have them available the next time I needed an eSIM. Has anyone tried any of these:

Nice one. Thank you

Not yet, I don't want to spend more Bitcoin than I have to until sometime next year!
But its on top of my now super short tech shopping list, that is for sure :-)
reply
Interesting! I subscribe to a spend and replace philosophy. Helps move more bitcoin through the circular economy and makes sure my stack doesn't shrink. I use it regularly for things like vpn service and esim.
Not recommending it necessarily, but you can also use a product like Strike where you can put fiat in and send it for lightning payments. That way you feel like you're not spending bitcoin.
reply
Its decades since I relied on the fiat mines, and I spent 5-6 years setting up a couple of my own, but had to walk away from all of that in 2020.
No way I'll rely on fiat rails for income ever again, I've had close to no fiat incoming since at least 2021!
Guess I'm all in ;-)
reply
Haha congrats my friend!
I guess ultimately you still must pay for things like your cell phone service or vpn (if you use one) etc... My point is that using fiat directly for that service or spending btc and replacing it with the fiat you would have used is basically the same thing (in terms of your btc balance).
But it is another step and some extra work that may not be worthwhile to you, so completely understand!

Still living on gold that I've sold after melting my cards in ATMs in 2020 ;-)
In other words gold protected my Bitcoin that I got at the same time, hopefully that makes a few toxic maxi's heads explode haha
Now its all about earning in Bitcoin, that is why I'm here!

I have never had a phone that supported it yet. I am curious how they work. I kind of like the ability to just buy one and change my service easily.
reply
I don't currently use one of these, thanks for sharing this great resource! It's on my to-do list, I'm getting a new phone and I'm coming up with a plan to make it as private as possible and without anything tying it to my personal information from the muggle world.

It's weird eSim is available only on top budget versions of smartphones. I can't afford it, better acquire more sats and have $200-300 gadget in the pocket
reply
My phone doesn't support eSIM

I do. Silent.link only in my case, for travel. Unfortunately according to the country it can get pretty expensive, like more than $100 for 1GB. But I think it might be more a problem with the local telecommunication market.
But for many countries the pricing is correct and paying $5 to use a map online can be very helpful in case of emergency.
Also, at least for silent.link, the support is good in case a problem occurred.
One more advantage of silent.link is the data we buy does not have an expiry date so we can buy for $5 of data and use it in case of emergency even after not using it for a long time.
reply
Agreed, silent.link can get pretty pricey depending on where you're visiting.
I prefer using https://www.airalo.com especially if I'm going somewhere for a week or more. You can purchase without providing them any kyc info and the pricing has been really reasonable the handful of times I've used it!
reply
I see, nice prices indeed but not payable with Lightning (or layer 1).
reply
That is true. You could always use a bitrefill gift card you bought with lightning if you really wanted to!
reply
No, i don't have a use for that and are useless for real privacy if you doesn't change the IMEI
reply
This!.
It's a better option, but not 100% safe.
reply
am i missing something? why would esim be more private than sim? It is just a digital form of sim
reply
Same privacy, one is just more convenient that the other to use.
