Gaius Marius Hermogenes may have had... a few enemies. Likely a citizen of the ancient Roman-era city of Odessos, his likeness was immortalized with a statue sometime around the 2nd or 3rd centuries A.D. But the stone depiction of Hermogenes was discovered well outside Odessos’ ancient city walls, far away from where other sculptures like it were typically located.
