A national CBDC is a tough sell when people have the option to buy Bitcoin instead, which works in the whole world, and is way better in pretty much everything.
We already have 2 CBDCs as legal tender in the world:
  • Bahamas' Sand Dollar
  • Jamaican Jam-Dex
I don't see many people using them. Why would they?, and also, how do you even convert Bahamas' Sand Dollars to Jamaican Jam-Dex?, it all seems so complicated and full of restrictions and fees.
Instead, compare that with El Salvador and Central African Republic. They both have Bitcoin as legal tender. They can simply send money freely from one wallet to another, without even paying capital gains tax since Bitcoin is legal tender there. Instant worldwide transfer of money with no middlemen and almost no fees.
No brainer really. Everyone will end up preferring Bitcoin to a CBDC.
