The City of Philadelphia on Monday released its second annual public works procurement forecast and said it expects it will bid out approximately $1 billion in contracts across seven agencies, including the Philadelphia Water Department, Department of Aviation, Department of Streets and the Office of Sustainability/Philadelphia Energy Authority
Included in the estimated 250 contracts that the city expects to put out for bid are:
  • Aviation – upgrades or improvements to primary substations including replacements of Control Power Transformers (CPT), oil filled transformers and capacitor banks and breakers, as well as installation of fire suppression systems;
  • Aviation – fire alarm upgrades;
  • Streets – streetlight improvements;
  • Streets – milling, paving and striping of highways;
  • Water – water and sewer reconstruction;
  • Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) – design-build of seven bridges;
  • SEPTA – a shop expansion and construction of a new transportation building;
  • SEPTA – Replacements and upgrades of security cameras and video systems throughout the system in stations and on vehicle fleets;
  • Philadelphia Gas Works – Construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps.
