From what I’ve ready a lot of this has already rebounded as the hurricanes showed up during the time that this was calculated. I’m not sure how they don’t factor in the huge decrease due to weather related job loss though…

I agree with your thinking. The common thing is to link employment and unemployment for economic reasons, obviously, but there was a pandemic recently that caused a lot of unemployment. Studies estimate that, by 2030, Latin America will lose 2.5 million outdoor jobs due to heat waves, with agriculture and construction being the most affected activities.
