I do not think it is unfair. Rodri should have received it last year, but somehow Messi got it, even though Rodri won Champions League (scoring the only goal at the final), Premiership, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Man City and UEFA Nations League with Spain.
On top of this, just wondering whether you have watched matches where Vinicius has played. He is disrespectful towards other colleagues in the pitch, always complaining to referees and causing problems to fans in away matches. He is a very talented player but he needs to concentrate on his game.
His decision about not traveling as he was told that the prize would go to someone else, is another hint of his sportsmanship.

Exactly, last year, but not this.

The prize is given not being a good person but a good player and Vinicious is not just a good player, but an excellent player.

You can find information here
The Ballon d'Or is awarded based on three main criteria:
- Individual performances, decisive and impressive character
- Team performances and achievements
- Class and fair play
He fails clearly (and in every single match) in the third criteria.
