Awesome! The only thing keeping it from being my ideal browser is the shitcoinery. I hope they drop BAT and add Lightning integration in the future.
Brendan mentions in interviews that they started building on bitcoin, but the fees were too high (his words, not mine). In my opinion, I simply think they wanted to fund raise with their own token, just like most issuers of shitcoins. i agree with you - there is no need for BAT now that we have Lightning.

Bat is a security, they found a loophole tho where they can use it as money, so they wont get in trouble. This is why they will probably die on this hill. If they start using BTC or anything else instead of BAT then they are likely going to be owing the SEC alot of money for doing an unregistered security sale

How awesome would it be if they natively supported things like lightning payments and auth, Alby style. They should ditch their shitcoin and just do it.

Just disable the Brave wallet in settings. Done.

Imagine if it had a lightning wallet though.

That's how I have it set up now. I'm actually quite happy that they make BAT an optional feature.

I hate the shitcoinery too but you can disable it and it won't bother you anymore.

That's currently how I have Brave set up. I try not to let the perfect get in the way of the good :)

A genuine question for everyone using Brave: why wouldn't you just earn the free BAT and exchange it for BTC? It takes no work and the browser functionality is still great :)
reply
I don't want to participate in a shitcoin market. Also IIRC, you have to KYC to move the BAT tokens?
reply
Good point. Maybe BAT will just be a token on lightning some day.
