Hello Stackers!
It's Monday so we're back doing "Meta Music Mondays" πŸ˜‰.
From before the territory existed there was just one post a week in a ~meta take over. Now each month we have a different theme and bring music from that theme.
This Month is Movember and in support of Men's Health this month's theme will be precisely that. Men's Health, be it physical or mental. Let's all show our support to those struggling.
Talk Music. Share Tracks. Zap Sats.
this territory is moderated
This is the best music for a working-class guy who struggles every day to survive and is a champion on his own.

Thunder – This Forgotten Town

Luke Morley knows how to dig deep in to his emotions with this song about loneliness and time passing
Father's gone crazy he stares out the window all day Watching the same streets where once as a kid he would play There's no hope in his eyes anymore He's forgotten what he was hoping for And the postman walks straight past the door There's no news today

Fantastic choice for today 🫑.
Not a thunder track I'm familiar with, really good one.

Great subject choice for MMM, there's so much out there. I'll get my thinking cap on for next week. Already got a cracking country track lined up. Can't use them all in one day.
I'll dig deep in to the Thunder catalogue and see what else fits the bill. Luke isn't shy of heavy weight subjects like this and Danny's voice is superb to convey the message.

I can't be sure what they're saying but it's a really upbeat and catchy song.

Aerosmith - Janie's Got A Gun

The Pump album is just loaded with classic tracks, writing and music at it's best.
Steven Tyler In the 1980s was in a recovery program where he met so many women who had experienced incredibly painful and debilitating sexual, mental and physical abuse. Those events put them on a path of suffering that led to anything from abusing drugs to self-harm to many other self-destructive behaviors to mask the pain. It was also around that time that he wrote the song "Janie's Got a Gun," which tells the story of a young girl who is abused by her father." The singer declared, "I got really angry that nobody was paying homage to those who were abused by mom and dad."

I never knew the story behind this track, thanks for bringing this to my attention, I always enjoy the lore behind songs.

Plus they did "What It Takes" as well on the same album, these are two of my all time favourite tracks.

Soul Asylum - Runaway Train

Lead singer Dave Pirner has stated that the lyrics originally described his experience of depression. The video shows actual children who have run away from home for various reasons and gone missing. Some were found others weren't.

This is such a great song. I never realised it had such a heavy background. You're really bringing the lessons in today 0b1, thank you.
reply
Thanks The US had 3 versions of the video (different kids in them). The UK and Aus had their own versions with kids from their country. Such an epic song of the time and still is.

Bruce has long been an idol of mine. Cancer survivor and all around good gentleman. Brilliant choice, and if I recall correctly this song was about Robin Williams 🫑RIP.

if I recall correctly this song was about Robin Williams
Yes, he mentions that before the song (it's live performance from Wacken Open Air festival).

Thinking about mental health, I want to share this track, I first heard it about 10 years ago. I use it for my meditations, I discovered meditation a few years ago and since then I have been interested in learning, with the passage of time and relatively regular practice I have noticed many improvements in my mental health, being able to regulate my temperament, think more calmly, not taking a method for granted and allowing myself to reflect on other alternatives, etc. This song has always been the pillar of everything, I have used others and sometimes I meditate without music to learn to disconnect from the existing noise. But 90% of the time I practice it I use this song, to measure time and focus my breathing 😌 🫁

Wow. Thank you for sharing your journey flat24. I've also found meditation very helpful recently. And this song is very lovely.

Meditation is something that should be taught to everyone in schools, it is a highly beneficial activity for the body and mind.

Very emotive song. Brilliant submission for today.

Are many doing Movember? I’m raising funds for men’s health this month and trying to grow a moustache
reply
Perhaps we encourage users to post a photo of their Mo? Blank out the rest of the face if they want privacy?
Any of our lady stackers wish to show solidarity Sats for the most elaborate fake Mo? I'm open to ideas as to how we can do an awareness drive. What are your thoughts?
reply
Yeah I might do a Movember post for any interested or if you want to I’ll partake either way
