The latest U.S. jobless claims report presented a mixed picture of the labor market. Initial jobless claims, which track new applications for unemployment benefits, came in at 221,000 for the most recent week. This was higher than the previous week's figure of 216,000 and slightly above the estimated 222,000.
On the other hand, continuing jobless claims, which measure the total number of Americans receiving ongoing unemployment assistance, rose to 1,892,000. This was up from the prior week's 1,862,000 and exceeded the estimated 1,873,000.
I'm eager to see if there are mass resignations in the Federal Government. Some people may want to jump ship, just in case Trump follows through on his promises (long shot).

Next weeks will be fun. Donald is producing a wonderful meltdown in the machine...

Now that trump is in office, you think the data will get better?

The seed for a serious crises had already been brought out. It's hard to imagine

I think his first months and years in office will be met with a lot of resistance. Will he do something to make the economy better?

Shrinking the public sector radically would be a gift for the next generation
reply
That would help a lot. Draining the swamp. Getting spending balanced would be another thing that he should look into.

Yeah, mixed signals my aching red a**. The BLS couldn’t get this right for four years running, so, who, in their right mind, would think they would get it right, this time? I, also, look forward to seeing a huge correction in the estimates, somewhere down the line. These idiots are only trying to protect their jobs, not give accurate data to other people. Go ahead, change my mind!

That's bad

Well at least we are going to get great news with a rate cut today!
