What do you mean by secured? I think mine are secured because I dug a very deep pit far from everywhere and buried them there?

Which material did you use? I would regularly check on it if I were you but that comes with increased risk of detection. And if that's your only backup, I guess it doesn't matter when you find out it's gone.
