I’m climbing the stairs of the building where I live. Behind me, I hear a quick rhythm of footsteps. It's my upstairs neighbour, who greets me hurriedly and continues to climb the stairs, skipping two steps at a time.
Why is he in such a hurry? I ask myself.
Soon I heard a key turning and a newborn baby making funny noises. From the hallway, the neighbour begins to speak lovingly to his son, who has just begun to make his first sounds.
He was in a hurry because he wanted to see his newborn son! This scene made me think of this saying that I once read somewhere: “The moment my baby smiled at me, my heart did a stand-up comedy routine.”
I live for the rush of my son crying in my arms, only for the sudden relief of endorphins washing over me as he finally settles down.
Oh and feeling like he’s actually looking into my eyes is pretty amazing too👀
I’ve got his full attention. There’s nothing else in the world he’s thinking of. And I’m not even thinking about Stacker News!
