So this is the start of my new column.
Since my last ethics lesson on Friday, which was about happiness, a lot of students have come to see me over the last two days.
They all wanted to proudly present the new book they had all bought.
They are fed up with "you have all the freedom in the world" or "you have the right to be and do whatever you want" or even worse "the government should provide you with everything".
So I kept telling them that with freedom comes responsibility, and if you do not take responsibility you will never find real meaning and therefore happiness.
So I recommended a book for them to read after class in their free time.
I have 82 students in this class.
More than 19 of them bought the book over the weekend and showed me the hard copy yesterday and today.
The book I'm talking about is 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson.
I am so proud of my kids! One child at a time to save the world!
You should really think of making a bio if you plan on staying. Just one of those things...

Is a bio important? What should I put into my bio?

All my left-wing colleagues call me a right-wing extremist. But then again, the Nazi teacher at my school calls me a leftist tick. So my thinking here: they both don't know what a libertarian is.

Wow 82 students is a huge class. Is that common where you are?
reply
It's divided into three groups. This makes it better, but it is far from perfect.

As a teacher myself, I’m impressed at how you managed to persuade so many of your kids to buy the book!
reply
Thank you! As a teacher it is the best feeling ever to leave an impression on your students.
