With one of the front runners for the Department of Energy out of the DOE race since North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum has been nominated to be Secretary of the Department of Interior. Given that he was by far the leading figure to head up the Department of Energy questions have emerged over who else would be on the short list.
Based off of what I have heard one of the names I hear from a lot is Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy. Given how big of a fossil fuel producer Alaska is this isn’t a crazy idea. Other names thrown out include Former Trump Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette who served after Rick Perry resigned.
Either of them will likely follow the party line to help reduce energy costs in the US and aboard. Currently the Department of Energy has frozen permits for non free trade countries which means Europe. To get them off Russian LNG Trump will easily reverse it as a day one move to help these allies of ours and secure American energy independence.

It is interesting to follow, but all these people still have to get confirmed, so it will be a while before we see who is really in those positions. Until then, the news will enjoy their increased ratings.
