  • The nation’s ultra-wealthy population — or people with at least $30 million — rose to 13,263 people in 2023, a 6.1% jump from the year before, data from Knight Frank shows. This number is slated to surge 50.1% between 2023 and 2028, making it the fastest growth rate for UHNWIs in the world, the same report stated.

  • It remains unclear whether or how fully he will fulfill those vows. But should he issue wide-ranging pardons, it would amount to a repudiation of the largest criminal investigation ever undertaken by the Justice Department and damage, perhaps fatally, efforts by prosecutors to seek accountability for a violent mob attack on the lawful transfer of presidential power.

  • “I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be. “I said the other night, I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be the guy who is disrespecting the game because I just wanted to be out on the floor. That won’t be me,” he said after the win.

~Tech & ~Science

  • A USC study shows a significant rise in alcohol consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic that persisted into 2022. This increase was seen across most demographics with adults aged 40-49 experiencing the most notable surge. The ongoing high rates of alcohol use pose serious public health risks, highlighting the need for increased screening and intervention efforts.

~History with Mystery

  • On November 24, 1974, paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson was looking for something very specific in the gravel-strewn landscape of northeastern Ethiopia. A year earlier, Johanson and a colleague had made a thrilling discovery in the very same region—a perfectly preserved knee joint from an ancient human that walked those hills 3.4 million years ago. That was nearly a million years older than the oldest known human fossil at the time.

Do they record Alcohal consumption? I thought it should be very private as in India. I understand they might be recording sales data but even then telling Americans are drinking out of frustration isn't something very enjoyable.

The wheels are definitely not falling off for Lebron. He is still playing at a very high level.
reply
Yes. I believe he can play at least 5 years before folding up. Can he?
reply
He probably could but I think maybe 3.
reply
There should be retirement' segment on the prediction markets. In reality I think he'll be playing only one more season. I'm more convinced by his comments.
reply
Could be. He initially said he wanted to play until his son was in the league and he could play alongside him. His son was drafted by the Lakers and played a couple games with them this year but he is in the developmental league now. I think maybe he will play one or two more years so he can play some more with his son.
reply
Where do you rate him in top 10 greats of all time?
reply
2 after Jordan.
reply
Jordan is undoubtedly the best. I should've asked 2 to 10. Before coming to Stacker News, I only knew Jordan. Now I know so many players, not only current but also from the past. Stacker News and Stacker_Sports has just shoot up my learning curve.
That's a crap of a report by cnbc about India. They did mention a rise in ultra wealthy people but yheu did mention how many people have come out of poverty. In India everyone if growing. The gap is decreasing instead of increasing. I'm saying for what I'm actually seeing.
reply
I think this is all same in the Western media. They are still singing the same old song that India is a country of poor people. I don't understand why they want to spread wrong information?
reply
Trump better pardon the J6'ers. I've never seen such a major railroading.
He needs to go even farther and release to the public the degree to which federal instigators caused that event.
reply
He needs to go even farther and release to the public the degree to which federal instigators caused that event.
You believe Trump was not the real reason for the chaos?
reply
He absolutely was not. Read what he actually told the crowd on J6. Only a deranged lunatic could think that constituted incitement.
reply
Ahh okay. I also don't think he's the reason. Just asking your views.
It'll have to be seen how Trump will deal with the Justice Department? Will he go on a fulla range revenge or take measurable steps?
reply
We've been subjected to unhinged hysterics about J6 for almost four years (and 8 years of general Trump Derangement Syndrome). I have no patience for this nonsense anymore.
Trump has said and done plenty of horrible things, but for some reason his opponents only want to focus on completely made up BS.
reply
Oh yeah 'Trump Derangement Syndrome', it's still going on. I've seen some news on ABC and other media that is still singing the same song.
Here, we are also fed with a 'Congress Derangement Syndrome' because all of media is under control of Modi.
