I would add to courage that motivation essential in doing the work whether that's technical or mental as far as research and critical thinking. Each of us is motivated differently. Some want security, to protect against debasement and poverty, others want to get rich, and others have a wider vision of a life that maximizes optionality. What better way to achieve freedom than to reduce attachments to place, legal and financial systems. You are free to interact with each when it makes sense but the majority of your life is private and self-determined.
