So we're sitting in the airport, after going through security, and my daughter gets a text from her boyfriend. He is happy to discover that he forgot that he had bought a "couple of different cryptos" while in college years ago, and now they're worth a few hundred dollars. I told my daughter to tell him to trade them all for bitcoin. He's a fine young man, but I don't think he has ever had much interest in money and investments.
He's an intelligent guy, and rather than try to convince him as I would have done in the past, I'll just provide him with a few articles so that he can learn about it himself. I hope to take the advice set forth in this post more:
Hope he listens to you. Or if not you, your daughter

Or if not you, your daughter cancel
"Hey Charlie, No sex until you're a wholecoiner, K?".

I see how you have played this. If he was already a son-in-law I am sure you would have already orange pilled him but just like your daughter needs to determine if he is worthy of a long term commitment, you also need to determine if you will like him long enough to orange pill him Haha,

Its hard not to butt in when you want something to be better for someone else. Hopefully he listens and comes back to you with questions.

Maybe he ain't that fine or intelligent as you think he is, taking care of your daughter (even as a BF) requires some "financial finesse" I would assume, if he ain't up for that, then I don't know...lol Facts kinda speak for themselves. Isn't that the younger generation should be teaching us about the new advancements in technologies and financial tools..... and not the other way around? :-)
reply
bitcoin has been around for over 15 years, OP was probably a younger more strapping man when it came on the scene and the current BF was probably like 5 or 10 something so yeah.
my 25 year old cousin knows nothing about finance, investment, fiat, crypto - nothing (and sadly, neither did I at that age).
as long as we keep our brains open and move with the times, we won't have to worry about youngsters trying to share their amazing ticktok wisdom on how shit works
reply
Hmmm. Maybe I should rethink the whole thing.

I mean, he ain't wrong... 😶‍🌫️

Show him charts. Show him that his cryptos priced in Bitcoin are all going down over time. But I actually need to take my own advice. My brother is on the solana train. He thinks its going to pump a 15x and which point he thinks he'll get smart and trade it for Bitcoin. I don't think that will ever happen.

will you be annoyed when he doesn't listen to you

The cycle is starting again, indeed. Exactly like 4 years ago. During the last three days four reached out to me (the crazy bitcoin guy) to ask which crypto they should buy. In a group post (about 15 people, all germans) 5 were already playing around in crypto. After years of trying to debate this dogshit I gave up. I only respond: BTC,.the rest is proof of stupidity. To me it's a miracle that there's a net positive adoption in Bitcoin watching this stupidity repeating itself.

How many people understand how the fiat system works?
1%? It is not easy to understand the value of Bitcoin without first understanding fiat.
So do not try to explain Bitcoin directly, but first understand and explain how fiat works.

You can only change one mind at a time. Too many targets spoil the proposition. Talking about BTC now is like talking about Microsoft and Apple in the late 80’s. There is a lot of potential for value enhancement in terms of fiat, but thinking of that is not quite the right frame of mind. Thinking about goods in terms of BTC is more the correct frame of mind. Fiat is for the derrière.

Yes man! One at a time!

I believe it's more effective to educate people about Bitcoin rather than trying to persuade them to buy. They should have a solid understanding of what it is and how it works before making any decisions. By simply providing information, we empower individuals to make informed choices. If we try to convince someone to buy, we risk compromising their autonomy and could face potential liability if their 'investment' doesn't perform as expected.

Tell him your daughter will inevitably break up with him if he doesn't dump his shitcoins for bitcoin because only losers hold shitcoins. Simple.

Offering to set up a wallet with them always piques their attention
But if they see the casino where you're swapping, you may need to subvert their attention for their future benefit

Send him the white papers! Orange pill the hell out of him!
