I could not resist getting these 4 brilliant minds together to discuss all things Bitcoin, Mining, Energy, and Methane Mitigation.
We discuss a series of important topics, but we highly focus on the potential for Bitcoin mining to have a positive impact on the environment. We covered a few conclusions that I came to recently which are:
My conclusion:
  • Bitcoin mining can do a lot of good for the environment
  • It has the potential to help enhance renewable operations and economics
  • It can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas operations
  • It can also reduce emissions from landfills, wastewater treatment, and agriculture
  • It can recycle heat to be used for greenhouses
  • Recycled heat can also help reduce the cost of operation for certain energy generation assets
  • It may be able to go carbon neutral and even maybe carbon negative?
