pull down to refresh

10 000 years before Paul Atreides joined the Fremen to lead an uprising on Arrakis to take down House Harkonnen, two sisters (Valya and Tula Harkonnen) create the mysterious all-female order called the Bene Gesserit. In Dune Prophecy, the siblings combat forces that threaten the future of humankind.
The first episode was just streamed and seems to be really well done and interesting story. For those already invested in Dune, this series feels like a meaningful expansion, a chance to delve deeper into the nuances of Herbert's universe. If you're new, this is a worthy entry point, though you might have to work a little harder to keep up.
I personally like it.
It looks like this deviates from the Dune Books that have already been written by either Frank Herbert or his son and Anderson. Who were the writers for the series? Anderson and Herbert or somebody else?
reply
I had to look closely at the top of the poster to read: "from Frank Herbert's universe, from the novel Sisterhood of Dune written by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson" - so it seems to locate itself beyond Frank's series but within his son's expansion.
reply
Maybe, but I read those novels and I do not remember Harkonnen sisters involved in the Sisterhood. There were others during the Butlerian Jihad, but not Harkonnens. In the other novels set in about that time, Harkonnens were already being dismissed as cowards and traitors because of Abulurd and the stain would not wash out.

I may take a look based on your recommendation. For me the original Dune book was amazing and everything that has followed (including Frank Herbert’s own sequels) were a diminishing return.

keep in mind that this series is something different and the action is happening 10 thousands years before Muad'Dib. Is practically how the prophecy of Muad'Dib come up. But the royal houses are the same. Same game of thrones.

I have been invested in Dune since my father gave me the books. But time, man! Im definitely not a series type of guy...
reply
its decent but the plot reminds me of foundation.
reply
Same here!

I plan to check it out, but I still have to watch Dune 2 and finish The Penguin.
reply
I'll check it out. I just happened to have a free trial of Max.
I certainly hope this is done better than the butchery on LOTR. I would hate to see another total botch of a new series because THEY have f'd up so many series already! I cannot bring myself to watch any more new Star Wars or Game of Thrones junk. I suppose there are many others by now that are not worth watching because of interpretations that are loony.
reply
Hmm, I'll take a watch.
Silo season 2 episode 1 was pretty wild.
The Penguin was pretty good too.
