Heather Heying shares a reader/friend's comments after Trump Election
The author begins by referencing the episode of DarkHorse that we streamed two days after the election, in which I said, among other things, that I had a great sense of relief, and could not stop smiling.
And the reader writes:
I completely agreed with your opening statement on DarkHorse last week, and felt exactly the same. But here in the bluer than blue part of Washington, hugging Puget Sound, I realize I am still in the minority. No matter—at least, for the first time in four years, I feel the relief of being in sync with the majority of people in the rest of the country. I hope for a return to sanity.
Truly, man. I've been wondering wth people are seeing and how they could possibly reach the conclusions they do. (Oh, it's racist; oh, just oligarchs stealing the vote blah-blah).

To anyone feeling this way about the US election result, shut your digital life down for a week or so. Go outside, touch grass and talk to people. You will start to unwind.

Very good advice

These people will not follow your advice

the real mind breaking happend the first time Trump beat Hillary, that shit was crazy to observe from afar
reply
I agree. What we're seeing now are just predictable reactions from those broken minds.
reply
Yes, but I think the electorate had a different vision, don't you think?
reply
Yup. And then when Biden beat Trump, holy shit. The amount of people screaming "election stolen!", unable to accept basic results, lmao.

You should see some of the meltdown that's still happening on reddit.
Now they're complaining that there's going to be mass deportation and that's going to drive up food costs because apparently only illegal immigrants work on farms, and now it's a good thing that they're being exploited for cheap labor.
reply
From a historical sense the democrat position is fairly consistent.
The illegals are the new plantation workers.
reply
Except they can vote and no 3/5 compromise
reply
They're going full mask off.
reply
The internal contradictions abound.
It'd be pretty wonderful to see this meltdown if it weren't so many people having so much influence. Scary world etc, but hopefully changing for the better

I don’t know how influential Reddit is for political discourse
I follow an account on Twitter called Reddit_lies

Reddit has imposed Soviet style moderation since 2011. The best example of moderation gone wild.
About 13 percent of agricultural workers are illegal aliens.

As someone who likes to throw around similar phrases, "oligarchical anarchy" is a new one for me.
If I were to attempt to parse that phrase, I'd say it must be a relative of "anarcho-tyranny". As such, it would refer to a society with no official ruler(s), but an intact spoils system or entrenched protections for a small number of elites.
Really, I think they're just slapping words together hysterically.
reply
Yup... Hence "broke their brains."
Remember Shawn Baker said something like this a while back, all these people having nutrient deficiency from not eating enough meat for so long, and now their brains are broken.
Have seen zero evidence for that, but some such grand story kinda has to be involved to see people cognitively and intellectually malfunction like this

cognitively and intellectually malfunction like this
Wow, how does it feel to be so much smarter than everyone else around you?
Cringe af tbh, just let people live
reply
pretty neutral, actually. How about yourself?
reply
I don't need to convince myself that people I disagree with are "cognitively and intellectually malfunctioning"
reply
Me neither, friend. I'm observing what they're doing.
reply
Concerning. It feels concerning.

The grand story is that propaganda works and these people were victims of the biggest most relentless propaganda campaign in human history. They've been gaslit about damn near everything they believe (at least the things that are top of mind for them).
One of my favorite Jordan Peterson lines was about dishonesty and it was something like "When you try to twist reality to suit your ends, reality ends up twisting you, because reality is bigger than you are."

Shiiiite that's a good one. I'm sure he's said it a lot but if you could find the exact page number and/or video clip that'd be wonderful
excellent phrase and so true in the context in which you are quoting it.

Same here in Germany. People I know are bringing up the prepper stories, looking up survival trainings and basically counting the days until WW3 which will definitely start beinning of next year.
The media has done so well. He was fucking president for 4 years and hasnt nuked the world, why does everyone think now is the time he will?
reply
I hear this from a variety of sources, and I think a common denominator is Network Television, and perhaps some PBS and newspaper. I think others work in areas, like teachers, that have the echo chamber effect.
Sometimes I play dumb and ask where I should go to get information about the topics that have them concerned. Not sure what we can do other than invite them to join society, and leave your pronouns at the door.
reply
I wonder where these people get their news from.
I mean who watches MSNBC. The one person I know who occasionally watches CNN doesn’t vote or use Reddit

YEEES truly, that we do

I think we were all aware that Trump was going to win, that the results were final and that from what we could see he was going to have a resounding victory. Perhaps people were determined that their preferred candidate would win, but we all knew that, so to speak, it was the best thing for the economy and for the country.

Brave new world of oligarchical anarchy
Most people don’t understand what oligarchy means
Maybe we can move to Mexico. Can you speak Spanish? Can you learn a new language?
