I don't think I mentioned this view before, but I thought the Lakers would continue to suck like last season and they would be at most be a play-in team. I thought the JJ hire wouldn't change much, and their problem is a roster problem, not a coaching problem. LeBron is old, DLo is shit, AD is made of glass, and the rest of the roster (maybe with the exception of Reaves) is mediocre.
It's still early in the season, but the Lakers are currently sitting at 3rd in the west. I also saw a few of their games and they actually looked quite good. I think so far, JJ had proven to be a better coach than Darvin, and it actually improved the Lakers in a meaningful way. JJ sees the details of the game, gives credit where credit is due and holds players accountable when they need to be held accountable. Of course, picking up the steal of the draft, Dalton Knecht, at pick number 17 helped improve their roster. The season is still early and there is still a lot of basketball to play, but if the Lakers continue on their current trajectory, they could possibly go deep into the playoffs.
