Ok, so as life gets harder, governments remain incompetent and fiat keeps losing its value, bitcoin will continue to win and get stronger, I have zero doubt.
that being said, I can totally see a scenario where people, even though they were willfully ignorant and even though they were warned, will focus their hate and frustration on future bitcoiners. Maybe our grandchildren will be on the end of this hate.
People will say it was all luck, it's not fair, and would probably love it for the state to try and do a little 'reallocating'.
Most no-coiners already kind of hate us because they just see MSM and think we're the same as crypto bros (maybe some are, but not all), they have a buttcoin mentality and won't cope well as bitcoin keeps gaining more and more adoption across the globe.
How do you think things will pan out?
The rich are always hated. Tbh I don't see bitcoiners hated as much because all we did is talk about it
reply
Bircoiners will face hatred especially from those who feel left behind. People often blame others when they’re frustrated lol
I really have no idea how will this even pan out? Because huge majority will always feel it's too late and this will eventually end up hating Bitcoiners.
reply
even bitcoiners hate other bitcoiners lol, not just the bcash and VOS people lol
reply
TRULY.
Jeez, fucks
reply
Just like the group 'internet users', everybody is going to own bitcoin. People move on, new generations will come and adjust to the new reality. Don't worry. Just don't flash, brag or be arrogant, but that's always been true.
reply
this is a good point, i hope the younger generation will just be natively born into it and find it amusing how previous generation like Schiff were hating on it for so long
reply
For a while I was of the opinion that we would be hated and targeted.
Nowadays I'm thinking we might end up shaping culture.
reply
true, although, unless blackrock takes over and does a fork and they use their muscle to shape it. fuck that would be terrible
reply
The set of bitcoiners will be equal to the set of humans. Those who got in earlier will be envied by those who got in later.
reply
IMHO it depends. If it will end up just as store of value, Bitcoiners won’t be so much different than “Golders”.
reply
I don't know about that.
reply
ECB folks are already writing "papers" about it: https://twitter.com/TuurDemeester/status/1847512241173582058
They are predicting a division of society if bitcoin is allowed to rise in price.
reply
yeah, i remember when they came out with this report, such unbelievable rubbish, like on the one hand they are saying it's shit and going to zero and dangerous for people to have, then on the other hand saying it's unfair for people that didn't get in early.
funny, they don't worry about people who bought facebook or apple stock early or the fact only privileged VCs were able to get in early etc

I'm actually thinking about going to Thailand next year, but not for the reasons one might think; We have an apartment there, my dad practically lives there half of the year and the rest takes turns to go there, so I'll join them for once, been years since I left town. 🙂

as long as you stay away from soi 6 in pattaya, you'll be fine lol

I think within a generation, everybody will be well accustomed to bitcoin and be so familiar with it that it wont be hated at all like the cantillonaire class of today.
In order to get bitcoin, you have to do work. In order to get fiat, you just have to be closer to the money printer than others.
In the future, bitcoin will require bitcoiners to continue to produce work or spend their sats on food water, shelter, transportation, etc. Bitcoiners won't be hated. We/They will be the normal working class.
reply
i suppose people will decide if you are the cantillation class based on the fiat price per coin price when a person got in.
like to me, the 2k crowd were 'early' even though i could have been there, then one day, people will say the people that came onboard at 100k were the lucky class etc
might see some grandkids inheriting crazy sats
reply
Yeah, this is where I see privacy taking the front seat. I don't want anyone to know that my posterity has any meaningful amount of sats.

Two things give me hope:
  1. Bitcoin slowly starves the beast. So while bitcoiners are getting wealthy, the institutions that work to propagandize and turn people against us are constantly getting weaker.
  2. It's fairly easy to keep a low profile as a bitcoiner. Definitely do not be public about it. All the public bitcoiner personalities should definitely be worried.
reply
i think they probably have plenty of money to have a good security system set up etc , maybe not so much the lower level influencers.
reply
Jealousy and envy are unavoidable human conditions.
reply
No. Because bitcoiners have the incentive to make the world better. I don't think it's natural for people to "hate" others simply because they have more. It's a lot of years of broken money that sets up this condition.
reply
im pretty sure even in a tribe that trades shells and commodities, there would be the jealousy of men and women who had access to more resources. a broken money system has just added a ton of fuel to the fire
reply
How could anyone know. We have never had perfected money before.
reply
becuase even with perfect money, someone will have more of it and any time someone has more of something, anything, it can illicit jealousy or envy. it's just human nature
reply
Maybe. My point is how would we know? It's never been done before. I don't think it is human nature. I think it's learned. Little kids who are raised to be giving, are giving. I think jealousy is learned. I could be completely wrong. It's just a thought.

It is a fact that those on the left are the most likely to fall into this parasitic vision. "It's not fair, take from him and give back to the poorest"
reply
they 1000% will

I must admit that I have seen many bitcoiners (in the internet, not in real life) that support bitcoin with the same arguments that shitcoiners support their own shitcoin. Yeah, these people are on the right side, but not due to them gaining knowledge. So for them calling them lucky won't be far from the truth.
Anyway, luck or not, hate from other people will be due to plain old envy, nothing more.
I would advise people to stack bitcoin for themselves, not to gain other people's admiration. I would go as far as to advise the opposite - to hide that you have bitcoin. This plain old envy that i mentioned can sometimes be dangerous to the successful person.
reply
envy + desperation are lethal , i don't talk about bitcoin for example irl
reply
That is good. But many people crave the validation from others (see, I was right) or want to "win" the superiority contest (by showing others that they are more successful. In the later case they even gain satisfaction from others envying them.
But it is best if one doesn't give in to these desires (if one has such desires in the first place).
reply
yes, unfortunately, many people have the desire to flex. luckily i couldn't care less :)
in the 90s my wife's mum ran a stall at a market in Russia and the successful merchants that bought fancy coats were the first to get extorted and some even killed. they have a good saying - 'money likes silence'
reply
Not likely.
ATM bitcoin's market cap is 2T. Even 100x from here won't bring it to the levels of the stock market.
There's been very little (or at least manageable) hate towards the stock owning class in the past.
Just imagine stock market doubles. The wealth effect is much much greater in absolute terms. Still past doublings have not caused hate towards the stock owners.
reply
this is true , i've never seen a stock hater, but that's probably because stocks cover all sorts of companies and most people in the US at least have exposure via a 401k
bitcoin is just the one thing and tends to illicit very negative reactions, like Buffet calling it rat poison etc
reply
Sure. Still the relative effect will not be even as large as pumps in the stock market in the past - even in case of 100x . 100x is going to take some time and people will adapt. Most people (in developed world) will own bitcoin at that stage.
reply
We will definitely face hatred and envy because of their frustration.
