Minibits is an eCash wallet with a focus on performance and usability. Cash is issued by mints and backed by Bitcoin via the Cashu protocol and Lightning Network.
I've been testing MiniBits off and on for a while. Today I decided to switch over to it for Stacker.news. You can add the mint of your choice. I've tried CoinOS and MiniBits so far.
Its only available on Android for now but it seems like a viable option for SN. NWC and the Lightning address work for me.
Anyone else tried this setup with success?
Edit: Please be careful though. I only keeps small amounts in these types of wallets. I think they are fine for stuff like SN but your milage may vary.
i tried it, the nwc was never very reliable for me. but i didnt get via the google playstore either so 🤷‍♂️

I think the app needs to be open for it to work. That's a common issue with mobile apps.

ya, so it makes using nwc with it pretty hard if the nwc is being used in a separate app. coinos.io has nwc too for their wallet and ive been meaning to test it. Since coinos.io wallet is via a web account it should work better as far as custodial solutions go ( think the custodial alby nwc from what ive read) . they also have an ln address for receiving supposidly.

I've used CoinOS and had some issues with SN. Still not sure what was the issue though.

i tried just now, and keeps timing out for nwc connection when i attempt to setup via same mobile that has minibits running. i think minibits has trouble maintaining itself in background on my phone.

I'm running GrapheneOS. Haven't noticed that issue.

Starting to see issues with it. Failed payments. I don't think it has anything to do with background process. Wondering if it is an issue with their Lightning node. Seems to have nothing to do with the app running in foreground or background.
After all they use NWC and it is an eCash mint. The mint isn't in the app. The lightning node isn't in this phone. Its on a server somewhere.
