Evidence of oldest known alphabetic writing unearthed in ancient Syrian city

Alphabets were made to make writing more available to people? I doubt that very much!! The earliest records that we know about show accounting records, probably for taxing purposes. The alphabet was probably a way to make taxing easier for the taxman.
