I believe that Blitz Wallet, brand new, fixes this. It handles everything in the background and greatly smooths out the entire process. It does the on-chain/liquid/lightning swaps seamlessly in the background without the user knowing what's going on or needing to.
It also handles cashu/fedimint for micropayments pretty seamlessly.

Some of the issues are unsolvable because of the current on-chain dynamics. but gl to us, I hope so too.

i'm going to write about this soon. i believe there is a major solution being developed, that's relatively simple, using lightning, liquid and on-chain.
it will make custody much easier while automating things... allowing any organization to run btcpay server even without a lightning node.
