Yes, it is their chance to keep in practice for language, too. When we watch anime, we switch to Japanese language. The voices match the characters much better if you are used to the Japanese style of voicing.

Definitely. Voiceovers just sound weird, no matter how competent the voice actors are

I've noted that on many occasions. I refuse to watch Japanese anime in English voice over, at all. I have to change the languages to Japanese every time.
