Perth Heat- Round 2 recap
The Bitcoin baseball team was back in action this past weekend for their second round series of the 2024/2025 Australian Baseball League season against the Sydney Blue Sox.
The Heat started off well winning the opener 2-1, thanks to another strong pitching performance from SP Tucker Smith who pitched 6 innings giving up only 1 run and striking out 8 batters. On the hitting side CF Jhon Diaz did all the damage for the Heat with a two run homer.
In game 2 the Blue Sox scored in all four of the last innings to take a 6-2 win over the Heat. 1B Alex Hall was the lone bright spot from the Heat in this game as he went 2-3 with a home run.
The Heat returned to their winning ways in game 3 taking the contest by a score of 3-2. SP Young Woo Shin pitched well with 5 innings pitched, giving up 0 runs and striking out 5 batters. On the hitting side it was 1B Alex Hall leading the charge again with a 2-4 day that included a home run.
In the final game of the series, the Heat could not overcome the Blue Sox offensive onslaught losing 12-6. Carlos Colmenarez, Jake Bowey and Alex Hall all hit home runs for the Heat but it was simply not enough to overcome the bad outing by Heat pitchers.
After two rounds the Heat are tied for 3rd place with a record of 4-4. In round 3 they play the Adelaide Giants.
Go Heat!
Sats for all, GR

Yes, they have been the Bitcoin baseball team for a few years. They hold Bitcoin on their balance sheet. They used to have this cool feature that you could zap players for great plays during the game. Each player had a QR code and they would post it on the screen during the game and on social media but they don't seem to do that anymore. Maybe I was the only one zapping players. Haha.

That was superb! Did you try to find out why they discontinued?
reply
No. I am trying to get a hold of team management to have someone on for an AMA.
reply
Fantastic! We can then ask why they stopped?

I need to try to catch a few ABL games and see what I think of it. I lost interest in the MLB a while back, but I still enjoy baseball. Maybe this would be a good substitute!

They are hard to keep track of. A couple years ago every Heat game was accessible for free through a steaming site and I watched a couple of their games that were a bit earlier my time because most of them are taking place at 3am or 4am for me.
Last year the ABL had streaming through some app but only specific games like a game of the week and it seemed the Heat were rarely on so I didn't bother downloading the app since the game times weren't good for me and they rarely showed the Heat.
Not sure what they have going on this year.
reply
Yeah, when I looked at it after your round 2 post you had to use three different streaming services to watch the next three games. Right now it looks like the next three are on the Baseball+ app. Spreading things out like that definitely makes it a bit more difficult to gain new fans!

This is neat! Never heard of them before this post!
