I'm all for Big Tech not ruling our lives, but I think it's naïve to think state-funded tech and open-source projects will magically create an online utopia in an otherwise capitalist society.

Tech is just innovation. We've reached a plateau with the internet in recent years, so we're seeing the disruption of old become the corruption of today. We'll see a cycle of disintegration and reintegration.

What we need is a digital bill of rights or tech that allows us to claim those rights for ourselves.
